dai_head_jai - What goes on in that big head of his?

This is my heavy stuff - the politics, philosophy, theology, etc. I need to put it on here so my head won't get any bigger.

Peace in the Mid-East?

Israel has been forced to mobilize its armed forces again.
This time, they are invading the Gaza Strip, lands which had seen an unilateral Israeli pullout in 2005, in hopes of allowing a 2-state solution.

Sadly, since then, Hamas militants, which won the semblance of political power through an election victory over Fatah, have been lobbing rockets and mortar rounds (as well as sniper fire) indiscriminately into Israeli cities and towns.

Unlike the Israelis who go so far as to warn non-combatants of impending strikes (this, at the risk of the element of surprise, and the lives of its soldiers), Hamas has no problems with actively targeting Israeli civilians.
They also have no qualms about placing weapons and military infrastructure in residential areas, hospitals, or mosques (hence the Israeli bombing of a Gazan mosque, which ignited the cache of rockets and weapons within).
Hamas obviously has no reservations about breaking the rules and laws of war.

Yet, for some reason, our Western intellectuals and media all seem hellbent on equating the 2 sides on a moral plane. It seems that the more we learn, the more stupid we have become.
It is maddening that Israel is being urged to show "restraint" - in the face of over 6,000 rocket and mortar attacks on its citizens, it has patiently waited and endured for years - and now, IT (not Hamas) is being called to show restraint.

The world has seriously lost its moral compass.
